On September 10, in Petite-Vallée, the 5th edition of the Laboratoire Lyrik will bring together artistic director Marie-Annick Béliveau and composer Thierry Tidrow for a residency focused on experimentation in opera.
Chants Libres is a creative opera company based in Montreal. It brings together artists from different disciplines to explore the voice, the body, and storytelling, and to imagine new possibilities for opera.
Its creations, the Laboratoires Lyrik, and OPER’ACTUEL provide spaces where works can be developed, experimented with, and shared.
There are forms that reassure.
And others that disrupt.
Chants Libres does not seek to reproduce opera.
The company works to transform it.
Here, lyricism becomes a space for experimentation.
