Chants Libres Board President, Annik Geoffroy, is pleased to announce the appointment of Marine Theunissen as the company’s new Executive Director.
We were extremely impressed by Marine’s profound thoughtfulness and dynamic intensity, and we enjoyed hearing her take on the challenges that Chants Libres faces today and will face in the future. Welcome Marine, on behalf of myself, the Board of Directors and the entire Chants Libres team!
– Annik Geoffroy
Marine is a passionate practitioner of the performing arts. Trained as an actor in Belgium, she wrote and directed a variety of projects before turning towards technology for the stage and embarking on a PhD in Arts Studies and Practices at UQAM in 2016. Marine is motivated by creation and by the analysis of modern practices. She is especially interested in the study of creative processes, laboratory forms, and interdisciplinary and intermedial approaches.
She is also trained in communications, and has worked in project management, communications management and coordination for cultural organizations and research networks in Québec since 2012.
As Executive Director of Chants Libres, Marine plans to combine her strengths in order to develop work methods that are collaborative, creative, research-based and innovative. By employing an integrated approach to production, Marine will support our new artistic director, Marie-Annick Béliveau, in promoting the company, its artists, its mission, its projects and its network across Québec and around the world.
Marine Theunissen begins her new role on August 1, 2022.
The entire team joins Annik Geoffry in recognizing outgoing executive director Marilyn Carnier’s invaluable contribution to Chants Libres and wishes her great success in her new position.
Marilyn, our company has benefitted from your vision, your willingness to listen, your commitment and your understanding over the last few years. Your time with us will leave a lasting impression… A great big thank you for all you that have accomplished here!
