“Stunningly powerful performance inspired by artist. […] music, powerful and evocative…” — Robert Crew, The Toronto Star
A chamber opera for solo voice with an electroacoustic score by the composer Jean Piché and the librettist Yan Muckle, Yo soy la desintegración is inspired by the personal diary of the iconic artist Frida Kahlo.
20 years after the original production created in 1997, Chants Libres remounts this powerful and evocative opera. We enter the intimate world of a young painter who is dealing with the consequences of a difficult life with tenacity, courage and passion.
Created and directed by Pauline Vaillancourt, with choreography by the renowned visual artist Anita Pantin, the piece was performed in 2017 by the soprano Stéphanie Lessard.
